We are excited to have our wedding on Fishers Island, the place we are happy to call home. Fishers Island is about eight miles long and, though part of New York, is only accessible from Connecticut.
The primary method to get to the island is via the Fishers Island Ferry, which travels between New London, CT and Silver Eel Cove on the west end of the island. The ferry transports vehicles and walk-on passengers. We will also charter the Popeye to carry walk-ons from the island to New London after the reception.
For those saying on the island, may we suggest:
- a nature walk through the grasslands at the airport and parade grounds
- exploring the World War I and World War II era bunkers
- relaxing on south beach
- a game of tennis at the Community Center
- visiting the Henry L. Ferguson Museum
- stopping for lunch at the News Café
- a doggie bowl at Toppers
- a drink at the Pequot Inn
- window shopping in the center of town
The island is a small, tight-knit community where everybody knows your name (or why you're visiting).
